Moomin mug

Moomin mug Ski Jumping is the winter seasonal mug of 2024. The illustration on the mug is based on Tove Jansson’s comic Moomin’s Winter Follies from 1955 as was the previous winter seasonal mug Sliding from 2023. The Ski Jumping mug continues the same storyline and the pastel colored scheme that was started by the winter seasonal collection in 2022.

Moomin family skips their annual hibernation tradition yet again as the multitalented  sportsman Mr. Brisk arrives in Moominvalley and the Moomins decide to arrange the Moominvalley Winter Games. The sport this time is ski jumping – something very familiar to us Finns. Moomintroll decides to participate in this event with the goal of impressing Snorkmaiden who’s watching the event from the stands. Snorkmaiden realizes the dangers of the sport shortly before Moomintroll’s turn to make the jump and tries to stop him. It’s too late though as Moomintroll is already flying through the air. Moomintroll’s fly in the air is impressive but unfortunately ends up in the trees.

The previous Sliding collection in 2023 was designed by the already retired Tove Slotte. The designer of the Ski Jumping collection is Parvati Pillai, one of the members of the new Moomin Arabia in-house designer team.

Moomintroll is happy and curious. He wants to find out about new things and always helps others. The world is full of exciting places to explore, but he especially loves collecting rocks and seashells. He also loves the sea, as does the whole Moomin family. Moomin by Arabia, Moomintroll grassgreen

All Arabia Moomin mugs - find your favourite! All sorts of exciting things happen around Moominvalley all the time. In addition to the Moomins, the valley is inhabited by mymbles, hemulens, fillyjonks and all kinds of small toffles and whompers. The outside world consist of dangers, adventures, even catastrophes as well as enjoyable friendly outings and juice parties. The doors of Moominhouse are always open to Moomins returning home or to wandering vagabonds and other guests. Welcome to the colourful world of the Moomins!

Tove Slotte

Arabia’s Moomins are turned from stories to ceramic illustrations by designer Tove Slotte. She has been drawing Moomins onto Arabia items since the beginning of the 1990s. The designer draws inspiration from Tove Jansson’s original illustrations, which she adapts to ceramic shapes. The Moomins have always been close to Tove Slotte’s heart. She articulated the significance of the Moomins nicely when she said: I think everyone should enjoy a little dose of Moomin philosophy every day.
