Moomin Arabia / iittala mug 300ml / 10oz Moomin mug Moomin's Day (2021)
Moomin mug
Moomin mug Moomin’s Day is a continuum to the original Moomin’s Day Moomin mug from 2018. Moomin’s day celebrates the birth of Tove Jansson (9th of August), the creator of Moomin. This special edition Moomin mug is produced in limited quantity.
The illustration on the Moomin’s Day mug is based upon Tove Jansson’s book Moominland Midwinter (1957) and the book of songs Visor från Mumindalen (1993). The illustration portrays an atmospheric spring day with an evening sun in the sky. It is the first day of spring. The river flowing through Moominvalley is free of ice and both Moominmamma and Moomintroll are waiting for Snufkin to return to Moominvalley after a long winter. The overall style of the illustration is very close to the one in the original Moomin’s Day Moomin mug from 2018. The mug comes with a beautiful gift packaging with the same illustration.
Moomintroll is happy and curious. He wants to find out about new things and always helps others. The world is full of exciting places to explore, but he especially loves collecting rocks and seashells. He also loves the sea, as does the whole Moomin family. Moomin by Arabia, Moomintroll grassgreen

Tove Slotte
Arabia’s Moomins are turned from stories to ceramic illustrations by designer Tove Slotte. She has been drawing Moomins onto Arabia items since the beginning of the 1990s. The designer draws inspiration from Tove Jansson’s original illustrations, which she adapts to ceramic shapes. The Moomins have always been close to Tove Slotte’s heart. She articulated the significance of the Moomins nicely when she said: I think everyone should enjoy a little dose of Moomin philosophy every day.
