The creative insight behind the new collection is hidden in the pages of two small handwritten booklets, recently discovered in the Fornasetti archive. It is a collection of unpublished drawings by Piero Fornasetti: suns with human faces and unusual features, forming a sort of bizarre population.

The new collection celebrates that line and that style, typical of drawing, which is the unmistakable element at the origin of the Fornasetti oeuvre. The decorations chosen are diverse in inspiration – architectural, natural and purely graphic – but all pay homage to that black line that comes from drawing and engraving.

The Solitario decoration speaks specifically of those unpublished suns hidden in the two books, and of that Fornasetti playfulness that is almost metaphysical. With the same pleasure in functional divertissement, typical of Piero and still the centre of the Fornasetti world, the suns become furnishing decorations, breathing life into a sofa, an armchair and a table, in two variants and two colours.
